The Operatives are proud to present yet another fine musical showcase with their Espionage series...
Scuba, aka Paul Rose is the founder of the London based Hotflush Recordings. Since its inception, the label has represented artists at the forefront of dubstep. Hotflush has been a driving force in pushing forward the musical boundaries of dubstep and has helped shape the scene that has gained so much popularity over the last two years. The sound continues to grow, with Hotflush and Scuba always at the cutting edge.
In its initial years Hotflush nurtured some of dubstep’s emerging stars such as Distance, Slaughter Mob, Toasty, and Boxcutter. It has continued with a consistent onslaught of innovative 12” releases via the Hotflush label and its sister, Scuba, always bringing fresh sounds and styles to the scene. Dubstep’s emergence as an international movement is reflected by the diversity of artists released on Hotflush and Scuba, with Vaccine (USA), Scuba (London), Boxcutter (Belfast), Joy Orbison and Jazzsteppa (Germany) on the roster. The sound continues to grow, with Hotflush and Scuba always at the cutting edge.
Ras G guides a deep space exploration of music’s ancient history and rich future. Working thru obsolete tools to reach back in time and pluck out the essence of groove, Ras G's music is rich with space-funktified rhythms, fog horns, natty chattin, subterranean bass lines, colossal percussion and glorious highs. Ras G has been a fixture on the underground hiphop scene in Los Angeles since the early 90s. He is a proud South Central LA resident. Ras along with Black Monk and Ron Stivers are the founders of the Poo-Bah Label. This is the music that people will be playing in the ghettos of Mars in the year 3014.
Logistics grew up on a self prescribed musical diet, equal parts guitar based compositions from bands such as Rage Against The Machine and down tempo efforts from labels like Mo' Wax. Matt Logistics railed against the music his brother, Dan Nu:Tone would listen to and finally acquired a taste for Drum & Bass through the Full Cycle 'Music Box' LP. "That LP was like down tempo tunes with double time beats!" he explains "I'd always been into stuff like Mo' Wax and that album, particularly '11.55' by Roni Size & DJ Die had the same vibe that I could relate to."
Having a brother already signed up to Hospital didn't qualify Matt for an 'automatic in' and it wasn't until he sent Replay down to the office, swiftly followed by Fabio and Grooverider picking up on the tune, that he got his chance to work on his own album project. Having just left college this was a great opportunity for Logistics and he made the very best of it, working solidly on creating masterpieces in the form of Together, Spacejam, The Trip and Release The Pressure (the only previously released tune on the album) and bridging the gap between what until then had often been a lacklustre sub-genre;
Liquid Funk and more exciting, dance floor orientated Drum & Bass. It's Logistics' influence that has been picked up by the major DJs in the scene such as Andy C and Friction, and his anthemic creations have contributed greatly to the modern Hospital sound.
Total Eclipse is an original member of New York City's legendary elite DJ collective, the X-ECUTIONERS/ILL INSANITY CREW. At the early age. It was apparent that Total Eclipse was destined to become one of Hip-Hop's greatest DJ's.
Joining this already mental lineup will be Eru Dangerspiels aka Riki Gooch....
Multi-instrumentalist/producer/DJ, Riki Gooch was a founding member of the legendary Wellington group TrinityRoots. Nowadays, Riki is pursuing his solo career as Eru Dangerspiel and released his debut album ‘Great News For The Modern Man’, a dirty, bottom-heavy funk and psychedelic rhythm and blues affair, late last year. Riki also tours internationally as a drummer for Fat Freddy’s Drop.
