The Operatives are not one to rest on laurels, the agents are back with another Espionage, flipping the script with 4 international artists from the future! 2 rooms of some of the most mental music in world today!

Espionage feat:

Jacques Greene (Luckyme/Canada)
Machinedrum (Luckyme/Planet Mu/USA)
Mr. Dibiase (Alpha Pup/USA)
Funkineven (Eglo/UK)
Sean Deans
Cosmo
Fugitive
Edd Fisher
JPS
Nam
Silent Jay
and more TBA

Jacques Greene

You might not know his real name just yet, but you've probably seen Jacques Greene. The Montreal producer doesn't usually show his face in photos or use his real name, yet in one short year he's had a huge impact on UK club music. Barely into his 20s, Greene's releases on boundary-pushing labels LuckyMe and Night Slugs have house music's euphoric melancholy at their heart, but incorporate elements of R&B and garage to make dancefloor excitement with a fresh, warm touch. It was his Another Girl 12-inch that really pricked ears and hearts, though, culminating in Radiohead asking him to contribute to their King Of Limbs remix album.

Machinedrum

Machinedrum’s absolutely mind-bending new album forthcoming on Planet Mu, one might think that the man born Travis Stewart is some fresh-faced space traveler repping the hot dance sound of a galaxy far, far away. The latter doesn’t seem so far off — there may not be a single producer on this planet who sounds quite like Machinedrum circa 2011 — but Stewart has in fact been on this planet for quite some time, amassing a genre-defying discography and honing his razor-sharp studio chops over the course of the last decade and change. His latest crop of productions are so hot, we reckon the dance music world will be spending much of the second half of this year sweating them out.

Mr. Dibiase

He's a serious dude, he does serious things...

Hailing from LA's very own Watt's, Dibiase a.k.a Diabolic's productions run the gambit from 8 bit video game classics to seductive soul to raw grungy bangers this guy has no limitations no sample is safe. This 12 time beat battle champion and runner up of the Los Angeles RED BULL BIG TUNE BATTLE.

Funkineven

West London soundboy Stevie J aka Funkineven has been making beats for the best part of 2 decades, infusing his grooves with the his own take on classic electro, acid, soul, hip-hop and whatever other genres his pleases, as he creates hybrid dancefloor music for the 21st century. Since the 2009 release of his anthem ‘Kleer’ with vocalist Fatima, the producer has been making waves with the Alexander Nut and Floating Points owned Eglo Records, becoming deeply entrenched in their new 21st century take on modern boogie music.

The operatives and Heavy innit merge to present a brand new series to infiltrate Melbourne's dancefloors.

OPERATION HEAVY FEATURING:

OM UNIT
A13 and AFFIKS
JPS and NAM
FUGITIVE and EDD FISHER
BLW and OUCH

OM UNIT

An Electronic music producer and DJ from London.

One of many but with a very distinctive sound, Om Unit has already captured the minds of beat fanatics with his work to date. Style-wise you could say “post-genre” or just “Electronic Beats?”.. Genres are like borders, rapidly becoming obsolete when we see the world today as having an ever increasing merging of styles and influences. Put simply, its electronic music.

Jim Coles previously worked under the name 2tall, as a competitive DJ (DMC/ITF etc.) a live performer in the UK and in Europe working with turntable and samplers, and producer of several albums including 2007′s “Beautiful Mindz”, a project put together with Dudley Perkins and Georgia Anne Muldrow, other albums include ‘Shifting Tides’ (2004) and ‘The Softer Diagram’ (2008). Beyond that his work with Dented Records led to productions and collaborations with Uk Rap artists Foreign Beggars, Jehst, Kashmere and Kyza, as well as production and turntablist work on the ‘united colours of beggatron’ album (No Holes Barred / No More)

STAY TUNED!!!!!

Ross Birchard is not your typical Glaswegian producer; he’s the Warp wunderkind known as Hudson Mohawke, as lauded in the underground and, most recently, in the upper echelons of mainstream hip-hop. (Thanks to Just Blaze, who we love as well.) His sound is comfortably contrasting, moving seamlessly between Jem-gilded expressionism and Timbaland-esque bravado, with the new Satin Panthers EP exemplifying how enigmatic his tracks are. Having broken an ankle just before his tour last year, finally he is back and this time on a massive Australia/ New Zealand tour presented proudly by The Operatives.

Easily one of the highlights of Espionage in Jan when they not only played alongside Martyn, Arp 101 and Flying Lotus, they absolutely destroyed the place!

The time, Englishmen abroad, Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek are Africa Hitech are back to play a full solo headline show for 3 hours, just the way they like it.

Whilst the two reside in Sydney, their sound is an incomparable mix of influences that derive from Africa but have gone worldwide. After two incredible EPs (including Blen), the duo finally released their debut album 93 Million Miles in 2011, impressing with a mixture of Footwork, Sun Ra inspired spiritual jazz, Deep Techno and other juxtapositions of sweet and heavy.

And it just doesn't stop!!!!

Espionage is back with yet another amazing lineup of agents.

Hudson Mohawke (Warp/Scotland)
Rustie (Warp/Scotland)
Balam Acab (Tri-Angle/USA)
JPS
Nam
Fugitive

and some of your favourite operatives TBA

An unfortunate bit of misadventure kept Hudmo from joining the Flying Lotus-Dam Funk-GLK bill earlier this year, however Hudson will be coming back even stronger after releasing his devastating Satin Pathers and Pleasure Principle EPs this year.

Joining Hudmo is fellow Glaswegian and label mate Rustie, with his debut Glass Swords hitting speakers with as many certified bangers as there were ‘no he didn’t’ moments. A mix of RnB Crunk, 90s House and Techno, Trance, Dubstep and Ocharina Of Time, Glass Swords sees the young producer fitting in perfectly at Warp Records as he acknowledges the Acid House of people like LFO but uses this inspiration to create something unlike anything you’ve heard before.

This is Rustie’s first Australian appearance and will likely be a sell out event, so if your new to the sounds and looking for a musical slap in the face from the one of the youngest and genuinely innovative artists working now, get in quick.

Signee to buzz-label Tri Angle Records, Balam Acab’s debut album Wander/Wonder has received an amazing reception, winning rave reviews from the likes of Pitchfork and Resident Advisor. Drawing comparisons to Burial, Balam Acab uses delicate, pitched up vocals and ethereal, echoed melodies combined with deep bass to create a completely enveloping listening experience.

Live, expect spellbinding experimental pop music that pushes boundaries both in terms of songcraft and production. Wander/Wonder is reworked in a live setting, with tracks disassembled and rearranged to create an entirely fresh sound.

The Operatives are proud to once again present Flying Lotus' tour of Australia and New Zealand. Having thrilled crowds with Ronald Bruner and Thundercat in the live setting last year, Flylo returns on a solo flight but with an amazing audio visual treat for the masses! Certainly not to be missed!

Born Steven Ellison, Flying Lotus is an experimental multi-genre music producer and laptop musician from Winnetka, California. Rising to prominence following the release of his stunning debut album, 1983, in 2006, this gifted musical visionary comes from a rich vein of musical talent (as the great-nephew of the late Alice Coltrane and John Coltrane and a cousin of musician Ravi Coltrane) and now, in 2011, is now one of Warp Records brightest lights and most prodigious cornerstones – having released the six-track Reset EP and two albums (Los Angeles and Cosmogramma) for the uber-cool imprint. The mastermind behind eclectic tunes like Massage Situation, Mmmmhmmm and Kill Your Co-Workers, Flying Lotus on his way to even greater heights.
